Description
Capri Rosso wine is produced from a centuries-old pre-phylloxera vineyard located on Via Migliara, in the hills of Anacapri, on the stunning Island of Capri. It is made from Aglianico, Piedirosso, and a small percentage of other local grape varieties, all vinified and aged on the island. Only two barrels are produced, yielding a few hundred bottles, making it perhaps the rarest wine in Italy. It has an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it reveals notes of red fruits, sour cherries, chocolate, and tobacco. On the palate, it is delicate and full-bodied, with a long spicy finish of cinnamon and nutmeg, along with subtle hints of mint. It is a contemplative wine, ideal to enjoy with aged or blue cheeses and red meats.
